In his book “The mysterious flame of Queen Loana”, Umberto Eco writes: “Only if you look back, you can anticipate what will come”. This sentence motivated me to tell INFODEMA's trajectory in a different way.

It's not writing the chronological history of the company, but telling about the people that founded this firm, the vision they had about it and the mission they left us.

The word “enterprise” comes from “enterprising”, “doing”, “execute”; in German the verb “machen” (to do) originates from the word “macht” (power), so “enterprising” is something that “can be done”. Mr Hermann Wind, an Austrian businessman, founded “Industria Foliadora de Maderas” in 1942, which is now known as INFODEMA.

In those years' Chile , the surface of furniture was composed by solid wood or, sometimes, by thin sheets of imported wood. The founder of the company developed a machine, saw the beauty of our woods and produced the first thin, decorative sheets in our country. This way, the concept of surface in furniture and ornaments changed, creating INFODEMA's identity and vocation for the quality of the surface, the natural and the aesthetic, which are signs of our identity up to these days.

Every enterprise has roots in the earth, and so is ours: Valdivia is now a city, not only recognised for its natural beauty, but also because it has been an important centre of great cultural, industrial and politic developments, among them a permanent preoccupation on environmental and ecological aspects.

These 65-year trajectory are a wonderful bridge between our past and our vision of the future. We are present with our products in many countries, and we provide diverse solutions such as the highly sophisticated car industry complements, or the thin sheets that make up the only Chilean piece of furniture shown in the Natural History Museum of Paris, in France . We think we are in an optimal position to achieve recognition as the first Chilean enterprise that gives solutions and components that prioritise the excellence of the surface as an aggregate value, summed up in our motto
